この度CLEAR GALLERY TOKYOは、小川泰による「透明人間/Mr.Invisible」展を開催いたします。
小川の生まれた1981年とその前後は、「ロスト・ジェネレーション」と「ゆとり世代」に挟まれた、ぽっかりと何の名前もつけられなかった世代である。上 の世代の熱く強いバイタリティに憧れながら、下から突き上げてくる新しいクールな風を感じて、自らの居場所を模索している。世代論として括ってしま うことはできないが、その次代の空気というのは、見えずともモヤっとまとわりつき、何かしらの影響を与えているかもしれない。 名のない時代に生まれた作家が、ミスター透明人間となって見ている世界か、もしくはそこには確かに存在する透明人間自身か、「イベント・ホライゾン」 LOOPHOLE、「A SPACE ODYSSEY」CLEAR GALLERY TOKYO、そして2020年SF三部作の最終を飾る「透明人間/Mr.Invisible」では、緻密に 交錯するモチーフと色彩の渦で惑わす、小川の新作ペインティングを発表いたします。この機会にぜひご覧いただけましたら幸いです。
時代は巡り、夢見た未来が過去となり新たな息吹を感じるころ、自分が透明人間になっていることに気づいた。 最近はSNSが騒がしい。コロナ禍での巣ごもり生活の中で大衆は電脳監視社会を完成させた。 そこでは一切の妥協が許されない誠実で平等な発信のみ是とされる。 我々の絵もまた監視の対象となった。最早好き勝手な自己表現など許されないのだ。 さながらSF世界のディストピアのようで、これこそ10代の頃夢見た世紀末世界の始まりだ。 画像情報によって処理され、いいねの数で優劣が決まる優勢思想的表現をこぞって競う現代暗黒情報社会。 私と現実との乖離は行きつくところまで進み、もはや実体は必要とされていない。 そこに抜け穴作るべく、情報に記録されない脱法的作品を作り上げることにした。 その存在は認識出来ても可視化されない、そんな透明人間に私はなるのだ。 そして一人称の視点でこの禍を監視することにした。 小川 泰
CLEAR GALLERY TOKYO is pleased to present an exhibition "Mr. Invisible" by Tai Ogawa.
Around a year of 1981 Ogawa was born is a generation nobody could name and is sandwiched in the middle of “Lost Generation” and “Yutori Generation*”. As yearning for the vitality of older generation and feeling new and cool atmosphere from younger generation, they are looking for where they can be. Although it is unable to talk at once as a conversation of generation, the atmosphere of the time may invisibly cling especially to children in a sensitive age and affect somewhat on a process of growing. A world which is observed by an artist who was born in the anonymous generation as an Invisible man, or an aspect of Mr.Invisible himself...After “Event horizon” at LOOPHOLE and “A SPACE ODYSSEY” at CLEAR GALLERY TOKYO in 2020, Ogawa unwraps his new paintings at the conclusion of his SF exhibition series, “Mr.Invisible”.
*Yutori Generation is a Japanese education system for people who were born from 1987 to 2004. It is carried out in order to reduce the workload and stress of the students.
Time goes, as the dreamed future became the past and infused new breath, I realized that I became Mr. Invisible. SNS has been quite noisy these days. A nesting life due to the COVID-19 epidemic made people to create a computer surveillance society. Only honest and equal messages were allowed to be shared without any compromises there. Our paintings became target of surveillance, too. Here is no space to take the liberty of self-expression anymore. Such situation sounds a dystopia of Science Fiction world, and this is the beginning of fin-de-siecle that I dreamed during my teenage. Everything is handled by image data, and the number of "Likes" decides the inferior-to-superior relationship; such Modern Dark Information Society. The Diremption between reality and I already becomes advanced, its substance is no longer needed. In order to crate a chink, I made up mind to make works of circumvention of the law. Recognizable, but transparent; I am going to be Mr. Invisible. Therefore, I chaperon this epidemic from a pe rspective of the first person. Tai Ogawa

1981年 茨城県出身。2006年 武蔵野美術大学大学院油絵コース修了。
主な展覧会に、2020年”Event Horizon” Loop Hole(東京)、2016年“elements” WISH LESS (東京)、 2014年“Urban_Legend” galeria de muerte (東京)、“Ege of Life” KaiMatsumiya (NY)、2008年“The End of the World and Mother-Fucker” ZENSHI (東京) などがある。その他に、galeria virgilio (サンパウロ)、ferenbalm-gurbru station (ドイツ)、Fredric Snitzer Gallery (マイアミ)、 Heyri Asia ProjectII (韓国)など国内外で発表。 JAPIGOZZI コレクション収蔵。
2次元である平面に3次元空間を創出することを絵画と定義してから7年が経つ。 (バイクで死にかけてから本格的に絵を描き始めて7年目です) 平面の可能性を拡張するために最近では仮想空間であるモニタの中をアナログで再現しようとしている。 (最近はパソコンで下絵を作ってから絵を描いてます) モニタの中に現出した世界は仮想ながらも現実で、絵の中の平面世界は拡張された現実であり矛盾した現実を組み合わせた 複雑な演算をコンピュータに頼りながらもアウトプットが人力である絵には何かしらのバグが発生する。 (デジタルをアナログに変換しようとすると何かしらバグが生まれます) その矛盾が内包された空間を許容することによってまたひとつ生を実感することが出来るのだ。 (そんな面倒な事をすることに何の意味があるのでしょう?それはまるで絵画そのもののようですね) -小川泰

Statement : Painting Illusion.
I am currently focusing on creating a three dimensional space on a 2 dimensional plane. In order to create this illusion in space I need to focus on three points, the first being the object itself, to make the initial outline I will repeat the object in my work space be it canvas or digital and make slight changes to the individual copies. The second point is the choice of colours I have found that pairing colors on opposite spectrums really give the object depth and a sense of dimension. The final 3rd point is the use of layers, the overlapping of objects in the foreground with objects in the background. The combination of these three points is what gives the work the three dimensional feel.
